Originally from New England and seasoned in New York City's vibrant culinary scene, Danya is an NYU alumna. Danya’s extensive wine background includes stints in both restaurants and retail including Assistant General Manager and Beverage Director at Beuchert’s Saloon, private client wine buyer and wine educator at the Capitol Hill wine retailer DCanter, importing and distribution as a portfolio specialist for Siema Wines, and opening Little Pearl with famed chef Aaron Silverman, where she grew into the role of General Manager and Wine Director. During her time directing the wine program, the restaurant received a Michelin Star.

In 2021, Danya joined Hollis Wells Silverman’s Eastern Point Collective as Director of Operations and Wine for La Collina, The Wells, and The Duck & The Peach, where she curated an entirely womxn-made/owned wine program. Her love for Iberian wines led her to receive her Certified Sherry Specialist certificate, and eventually brought her full circle back to Mediterranean cuisine by opening Méli.

At Méli Wine & Mezze, Danya’s expertise and creativity shine through her dynamic wine program that celebrates the flavors of the Mediterranean. Her menu focuses guests on the familiar—taste—alongside the grape varieties to make the region more accessible to new drinkers. Beyond wine, Danya loves exploring a different type of “slope” as an avid downhill skier, and spending any time she can outdoors—preferably on a beach, or landscaping in her backyard.
